New Volunteer Background Check Policy
School District 197 values our volunteers and their contributions to our schools. To ensure the safety of our students, we require background checks for certain volunteer roles. A background check will now be required for all volunteers supervising student activities, whether on- or off-site, without direct staff observation. This includes, but is not limited to, hallway tutors, daytime field trip chaperones, co-curricular coaches, and overnight trip chaperones. If you fall into one of these categories, the school's administrative assistant and/or principal will guide you through completing the background check.
